Most of our farm days end up at the same table. Ayako san runs Minamoto Farms in Ichinomiya with her family, and a visit with her is half work in the fields, half lunch at her home.

The morning on the farm

Visit Ayako san's family farm to get our hands dirty, learn about ancient Japanese agriculture and the story of her choosing a simple life out of the city. Return to her home and be welcomed in as a guest. We prepare a traditional, fresh meal together and share it with her family for lunch. Levi to interpret and guide throughout.

Winter at the kominka

In the colder months we cook inside. Be welcomed into her beautifully renovated kominka as a guest. We prepare a traditional, farm fresh meal together and share it around her cozy fire-burning stove or Irori table grill.

Ayako's garlic soy sauce

Harvest fresh ha-ninniku (garlic sprouts) and make your own delicious garlic soy sauce. You can take it home to use as salad dressing, stir fry seasoning and more. This is one of Ayako's specialties, people from around town buy it from her every year! It's a locally-coveted best seller.
